SMART repairs have meant that what was once only possible with a visit to a traditional bodyshop, is now available at the conveinience of your own home or place of work. Some SMART repairs can be undertaken at a bodyshop, whereas others are done by specialist SMART repairers.
The majority are mobile so they can come to you to carry out the repairs meaning a saving on time and cost as repairs are carried out on the same day eliminating the need for courtesy cars and once completed the vehicle is ready to be used straight away.
There are two main repair types:
These often need filling in of deeper scratches and scuffing before priming, painting and blending into the same panel or nearby natural blend zone then lacquering. These tend to be carried out around the sides of the car or vehicle and predominantly on corners of bumpers and wheel arches where general cosmetic damage occurs due to parking incidents.
Often abbreviated to PDR, this method involves using either rods to push dents out of panels or a form of suction to pull them out if the panel has been dented but the paint is not damaged, it saves on having to repair large areas if the surface of the paint is not broken or scratched.
